July 2 - The Savages
The Savages is a story about the adult children in the Savage family, professor Jon (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and aspiring playwright Wendy (Best Actress nominee Laura Linney), who find themselves forced to deal with their estranged and difficult father's (Philip Bosco) care when he develops dementia. Slowly they manage to gain understanding of themselves, each other and their father.

In this smart, funny and touching film, Juno, an offbeat young woman (Best Actress nominee Ellen Page) becomes pregnant after an isolated sexual encounter with a classmate. She finds a pair of seemingly perfect adoptive parents for her unborn child, the the situation turns out to be more complicate than it first appeared. Difficult decisions ensue concerning the future of both mother and child in Diablo Cody's Oscar winning screenplay.

This powerful story of friendship and betrayal takes us from the final days of Afghanistan's monarchy to the atrocities of the Taliban reign. The original musical score was nominated for an Oscar.

A classic Disney fairytale lands in modern-day New York City when a storybook princess (Amy Adams) is thrust into present day Manhattan by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon). Her prince (Patrick Dempsey) follows after to rescue her, but her journey causes her to change her views on life and love after she meets a handsome lawyer.

This film is based on the true story of Charlie Wilson, an alcoholic womanizer and Texas congressman, who persuaded the CIA to train and arm resistance fighters in Afghanistan to fend off the Soviet Union. The effort was successful, but the unintended result was an emboldened and empowered Taliban that still affects the world to this day.

Two young musicians (Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys Myers) fall in love when they meet in a chance encounter, but when they are torn apart they leave behind a baby. August 20 - Gone Baby Gone
When a four year old girl is missing in a tough Boston neighborhood, private investigators Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro (Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan) are asked by the family to assist in the case, ultimately risking their sanity and even their lives in the process. Amy Ryan received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role as the child's mother.

August 27 - The Diving Bell and The Butterfly
At the age of 43, Elle France magazine editor Jean-Dominique Bauby suffered a stroke that paralyzed his entire body except for his left eye. With the help of dedicated assistants, he used a blinking code to write his memoir, on which the film is based. Bauby eloquently described his life trapped inside his body, as well as imagined stories from lands he visited only in his mind.
